“For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,’ that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.” – 1 Cor. 12:14-20

The members of DRBC all have different gifts that can be used for the one body. Praise God for the diversity of these gifts that are not all “an eye” or “an ear.” Our DRBC Church Covenant reminds us that, “We will cheerfully and regularly contribute to the support of the ministry, the needs of the church, and relief of the poor.” One way to practically live that out is by serving in one or more of the ministry areas in our church. The following is a list of different ministry areas where members can use their gifts to serve the needs of the body and glorify our Creator and Giver of those gifts. We would encourage you to take some time to look over these ministries and contact the Ministry point of contact to start getting involved in that area.

Audio/Visual

The audio/visual ministry is responsible for audio and video operations at DRBC. We work before, during, and after service to meet the music team’s needs, setup other technology requirements for the Sunday gatherings, including recording, processing, and publishing content for the web.

Children’s Ministry

Children’s ministry at DRBC is an area of great need and great gospel opportunities. DRBC members have almost 300 children 12 and under, and we also welcome many visiting families with children. The children’s ministry of DRBC exists to glorify God by supporting parents in making the whole counsel of Scripture known to children, praying for the children, and modeling faithful Christian discipleship for them. Our church does this primarily by offering God-glorifying, gospel-centered, biblical instruction for children newborn through 6th grade. There are many opportunities to serve both for people experienced in working with children and for those new to children’s ministry. Sunday school teachers serve for one month at a time every other month, and; morning service volunteers serve once a month. All volunteers are screened, trained, and must be DRBC members for six months before serving.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Serving in our children’s ministry either (1) every Sunday for even or odd months during Equipping Hour or (2) one service a month during Main Service
» Teaching, discipling, and protecting the children entrusted to our care

Deacons: Levi & Ali Fender, Amanda Kite, Tym Sidak

Community Care

Community Care is a ministry of mercy that reaches out to people in DRBC’s community and beyond who are in crisis or in challenging circumstances and offers help in assessing their needs and working together to find solutions. The deacon and team members pray and focus on deed ministry by extending mercy and compassion. Our purpose is to show God’s love and mercy by trying to help people out of difficult circumstances and to be facilitators of the work God is doing in their lives. Community Care practically assists and encourages regular attenders (not necessarily members) and external individuals or families who are in challenging circumstances in many ways.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Serve as the primary point of contact for ongoing cases of Community Care
» Build evangelistic or discipleship relationships with community members
» Meet and pray with those seeking assistance to initially assess their needs
» Provide job search assistance
» Give guidance on Biblical stewardship and budgeting
» Connect community members to support services throughout the city
» Help meet tangible needs of community members through shopping trips for groceries/clothes, providing rides, etc.

Finance

Every week, immediately after the morning service, a group of two to three volunteers meets in the church office to open and count the offerings and other income that the church receives. This serves the church by ensuring the quick deposit and recording of the funds that are donated through the generosity of the members. The entire process typically takes 20-30 minutes depending on how many items there are to count.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Opening envelopes, making notes, and counting contributions
» Preparing bank deposit slips

Greeting / Integration

Greeters are the first people that members and visitors meet when they attend DRBC on Sunday mornings. It is essential to meet members and visitors alike with a welcoming and hospitable spirit. Greeters ensure visitors and members receive the bulletins and assist with carrying items, provide physical assistance to those who need it, answer questions about the services and church family, and direct visitors to wherever they might need to go.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Greet and welcome members and visitors starting at 9:30 a.m.
» Help orient visitors to our building and services

Hospitality

The hospitality ministry is one way we make visitors feel welcome and serve one another through fellowship. On a weekly basis, the hospitality team is responsible for setup and cleanup of the hospitality tables where coffee and tea are served after the service. Training is provided to new volunteers upon joining the team. Each volunteer serves ~ 1x/month.

Typical volunteer duties (1 job per sunday scheduled):

Member Care

The deacon of member care is responsible for helping serve the practical needs of members of the church through the administration of the benevolence fund and coordinating efforts to help meet practical needs of members. The deacon of member care helps coordinate meeting non-financial needs of church members through facilitating volunteers and being involved in the lives of members. In this capacity, the deacon regularly coordinates with the elders on how the church ought to care for members in need and helps organize primary points of contact for each member-care case.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Serving members with occasional needs like babysitting, repairs, rides, errands, and more
» Serve as the primary point of contact for ongoing cases of member care

Ordinances

The ordinances team is responsible for ensuring that DRBC can regularly and seamlessly perform the two ordinances given by Christ to His body; Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. This includes recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers to help in the setup, service, and cleanup of the ordinances; filling the baptismal the day before a scheduled baptistery and emptying it after the service has concluded; and ensuring that the elements and Lord’s Table are setup prior to service.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Prepare the elements and table on 2nd and 4th Sundays 35 minutes prior to service.
» Collect communion cups from the pews and clean up element trays following service
» Wash towels used for the baptistry

Events

The deacons of events are the official representative of the church for couples who are getting married at the DRBC facilities, and also helps to organize other DRBC-facilitated events. She helps ensure that all requirements of the church’s events policy are met before and during events, works directly to coordinate with the couple for weddings, and recruits and leads volunteers.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Setting up and breaking down Main Hall and Fellowship Hall chairs, tables, refreshments, decorations, etc. for various church events – occasionally this volunteer request is for the day or two before an event
» Serving as day-of coordinator or wedding coordinator for a couple for their wedding at the church, or serving as POC for a non-wedding event at the church
» Volunteers to serve as ushers and to hand out programs and perform other tasks the day of a wedding or funeral

Deacon: Sarah Rea
Email events@drbc.org to begin to serve.

Facilities

The facilities team is responsible for stewarding the physical gifts we’ve been graciously given from the Lord via the faithful saints who’ve come before us. The team works to maintain and repair DRBC facilities so that the work of ministry can continue in our current building. As well, the team participates in the discussion and planning for the future of facility use. The deacon of facilities also helps to lead, recruit, schedule and oversee the Building Manager program for all events at DRBC, including Sunday service. Our desire is to see the Gospel proclaimed and God glorified every time the body meets at our building. That nothing facilities related would distract or prevent anyone from hearing the Word of God. Overall, our mission is to provide a safe, functional place for the congregation to meet and worship the Lord.

Typical volunteer duties:
» Serve as building manager during events, this involves opening and closing the building, operating the ac system, keeping bathrooms stocked and functional, cleaning and managing trash as necessary.
» Help work on building maintenance projects either individually or during special work events
» Work with staff and others on CAPEX projects (for example, building renovation team)

Deacon: Tyler Rea
